Italian Air Force Reparto Sperimentale Volo C-27J Spartan II Display

Country Italy
Unit 311ยบ Gruppo Volo, Reparto Sperimentale Volo
Aircraft 1 x C-27J Spartan

The Reparto Sperimentale Volo (Experimental Flight Unit) is responsible for the evaluation and testing of Italian Air Force aircraft. The 311th Flight Squadron of the RSV therefore flies a mixed fleet, including the Alenia-built C-27J Spartan, and takes part in only a few airshows per year giving a solo display flown by experienced test pilots.

The C-27J Spartan solo display follows in the footsteps of the past G.222 display performed by the RSV. The transport is put through a dynamic routine, even including a barrel roll. Like its predecessor, the display includes a steep "Sarajevo approach" and short landing and take-off. The C-27J has more power than its predecessor thanks to its turboprop engines.
