The Shorts Tucano (license-built Embraer EMB-312 Tucano) is operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF) to provide basic flying training to RAF and RN student fast-jet pilots. The No 1 Flying Training School, at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, is the primary operator of the aircraft and provides the RAF Tucano Display pilot and team for the airshow season.
The Tucano Display aircraft has seen various special liveries over the years. For 2012, the year of the Queen's Jubilee, the design was based on the Royal Flight livery with ER markings. The Tucano received a WWII Hurricane colour scheme for the 2013 season. For 2014 the aircraft had again received a new paintjob, this time commemorating the World War One Centenary with a poppy theme and the words ‘Lest We Forget’.
In 2019, the RAF Tucano Display Team was reactivated for its final air show season, as the aircraft type's service with the No 1 Flying Training School was about to come to an end.
