The Belgian Air Force Red Devils (Rode Duivels/Diables Rouges) are the formation display team of the Air Component's 1 Wing flying four SF260M basic trainers painted in a combination of red and white and the Belgian flag.
In 2009 the team formed as 'Hardship Red' and began practicing and performing four-ship formation displays using the SF260M. In 2011 the team was renamed the Red Devils like the Belgian Air Force's jet display teams of the past and obtained permission to perform at airshows abroad. The original Belgian Air Force's Red Devils (also the nickname of the national football team) was formed in 1957 with four Hawker Hunter F.4 fighter jets of the 7th Fighter Wing at Chièvres Air Base. After the 7th FW had disbanded in 1963 and since using front-line fighters for a display team could no longer be afforded, the Red Devils display team returned in 1965 flying four Fouga Magister training jets. The jet team was discontinued for budget reasons in late 1977.
