Country | Jordan |
Base | King Hussein International Airport, Aqaba |
Aircraft | 4 x Extra 300L |
The Royal Jordanian Falcons is the Jordanian National Aerobatics Team and a joint venture of the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) and Royal Jordanian Airlines. The Falcons are RJAF pilots flying formation displays with four out of five Extra 300L aerobatic aircraft owned by the airline. As ambassadors for Jordan and to participate in more air shows, the Falcons go on a European tour each year.
Formed in 1976 at the initiative of the late King Hussein Bin Talal, the Royal Jordanian Falcons started with two Pitts S2A Specials and later added a third aircraft. The S2A was replaced by four S2S Specials in 1982. The Pitts Specials were replaced with five Extra 300s in 1992, expanding the display to a four-ship formation. They were replaced by the newer Extra 300L in 2007.
