June 14, 2018, the realignment ceremony takes place in front of airmen, families and friends. Lt. Col. Leslie Semrau reaffirmed responsibility of command for 56th Rescue Squadron. Col. Richard Nelson, 31st Operations Group Commander, presided over the ceremony of both squadrons realigning from 48th Fighter Wing, RAF Lakenheath, England, to the 31st Fighter Wing, Aviano AB, Italy.
