72-117 was one of the eight Luftwaffe F-4F aircraft first delivered to the 35^th TFW at George AFB, California, for Luftwaffe pilot training. These aircraft in the Norm 72 colour scheme flew with USAF markings and serials until their transfer to Germany in the early 1980s.
